Alicia Patterson, BSU Master of Social Work Intern
Alicia Patterson is one of our MSW interns from Boise State University! She was born in Boise, ID but spent most of her life in Augusta, GA. Her academic journey has taken a few turns since starting out at BSU as a Psych major in 2014. Her sophomore year, she decided to return home to Augusta and changed her major to social work. From there, she earned her Associate’s in Social Work from Georgia Military College, and then her Bachelor’s in Social Work from Augusta University. Now that she is back in Boise, she is working towards her Master’s in Social Work and hopes to have her own agency someday that works with LGBTQ youth and their families. During her undergrad, Alicia worked with the Projects Office at the Georgia Department of Public Health, who help provide resources for people living with HIV/AIDS. She also worked closely with a school social worker in Harlem, GA within the Columbia County school district. Alicia has helped children and families in dealing with homelessness, substance abuse, and LGBTQ issues. Now, she hopes to gain more experience as a clinician by working with the wonderful families at NNH! Aside from being a full-time student and intern, Alicia spends her time as a dedicated mom to a dog named Byron and bearded dragon named Malarkey, with the help of her partner, Micaela.
