Kelsy Newton, PsyD.
Dr. Kelsy Newton graduated in 2017 from Pacific University in Hillsboro, Oregon. Dr. Newton completed an APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. She also completed an APA accredited post-doctoral fellowship at Children’s Health Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Dr. Newton specializes pediatric health psychology and works with children and adolescents (up to 25 years old) with acute and chronic medical conditions. Dr. Newton has expertise in providing intervention for coping and adjustment to new medical diagnosis, end-of-life concerns, and adherence to medication or lifestyle changes required for management of a medical condition. She has specialized training in pain management to help improve functioning across a variety of disease groups, including but limited to abdominal pain, chronic headaches, amplified musculoskeletal pain, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and pain related to chronic inflammation. Her treatment modalities include evidenced- based treatments that are effective; such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. She also conducts comprehensive psychological assessments with children and adolescents to assess emotional, behavioral, and academic needs. In her personal life, Dr. Newton enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, cooking, and reading.
